MUNN Talks About Losing Interest in School and then Pursuing Music

This May, I had the pleasure of interviewing MUNN for my first interview since March of 2020 when the entire world came to a standstill. During the interview, we discussed their touring plans, how MUNN wants to talk to you about anything you want to talk about, and getting his wisdom teeth removed.

Later this year, he is going to be playing shows in several places. These include Chicago, his home state of Indiana, Ohio, and New York City’s Mercury Lounge. The shows are going to be full-band and are sure to be good shows. The big tour is happening in 2022. Be sure to make it to a show if you can because they’re going to be pretty dynamic. There will probably be parts of the show where MUNN will sit down on the stage with his guitar and sing to the crowd. There might also be parts of the show where he’ll have the band out to play the more upbeat songs.

MUNN typically releases new music every two weeks. This is made possible because his manager is also a producer. They work together to get quality music released in that time frame, as well as create a video for it. Those videos are typically lyric videos but he has also had several music videos. Some of the songs that became actual music videos are “I Lost Myself,” “Can You Hear Me,” and “Loved Us More,” just to name a few.

From the time I reached out to set up the interview in late April, until now, he has substantially gained subscribers on YouTube. He had 119,000 subscribers then and now has 142,000. He also reached a milestone that not many independent artists reach which was 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

His journey kind of started after his engagement ended and he lost all interest in school. He wrote a song called “I tried” which is how he discovered healing. He didn’t start coming out of the dark place he was in until after beginning to write music. That’s when he discovered that what he wrote could help other people.

If you need to talk about anything, you can message MUNN on Instagram, or if you’re having thoughts of suicide, seek professional help because as MUNN says, “Life is worth living. It just takes time and you’ll find that happiness again.”

The number for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline in the United States is 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
