The Newsboys Put On Energized Show in Bartlesville

On Sunday, February 16th, Christian performing artists, Newsboys came to the Bartlesville Community Center in Oklahoma. The show was energized in part due to the inspirational songs that the band performed as well as thanks to lead singer, Michael Tait as he danced and brought laughter to the show through facial expressions and humorous commentary.

The band includes musical talent from Jody Davis (guitar, backing vocals), Duncan Phillips (drums), Jeff Frankenstein (keys, synth bass, vocals), Michael Tait (lead vocals), Phil Joel (bass guitar, vocals), and Peter Furler (vocals, guitar).

Newsboys started the show with the song “The King is Coming,” where Duncan was intense on the drums. They played many popular hits including the songs “Born Again,” “God’s Not Dead,” “We Believe,” and even the 1995 DC Talk song, “Jesus Freak” as Tait was once a member of that group. They also played quite a few classic Christian songs too, such as the song, “Entertaining Angels.”

Michael Tait told the story of his older brother, who spent over 30 years in prison and he mentioned the Bible verse 1 John 1:9, which reads “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness  (ASV). To learn more about this story, check out the video below!

Tait also brought some laughter to the crowd as he told stories about his bandmates including one about Phillips and Furler dating the same girls but marrying different women. Laughter exuded when Tait mentioned Joel growing up in an area of New Zealand where there’s more sheep than people! Check out this video for a hilarious segment, and to see just how many sheep there really are!

A close friend of Tait’s from his high school days was in the audience, and the old friend owns a CrossFit studio in town. Tait jokingly told the audience to join the man’s gym and give him some money! There were many funny conversations throughout the show, and if you get a chance to see a show, you won’t want to miss your chance at the great entertainment you’re bound to see. Tait was incredible with entertaining the audience and he had people clapping along with the songs throughout the show.

At one point in the show, they asked if anybody in the audience could sing the rap portion of “Jesus Freak,” and they picked an exterminator. See the video below!
